The North Dakota Chamber recognizes that a competitive general insurance market is vital to a healthy business climate.

The North Dakota Chamber will:

• Support legislation that encourages insurance companies to expand coverage in North Dakota by reducing regulatory burdens or allows more flexibility to react to changed market conditions.
• Support lawsuit abuse reform measures that stabilize or reduce insurance costs.

Health Care
The North Dakota Chamber believes changes are necessary in the current health care system in order to control rising costs and ensure continued high-quality care. The North Dakota Chamber supports policies that place the burden of payment closer to the person who receives the service.

The North Dakota Chamber will:

• Support fair and open competition in North Dakota's health insurance industry.
• Support wellness and physical fitness policies.
• Support reducing mandates for insurance companies that require coverage for specific health care services or conditions so individuals can choose the benefit plan that best fits their needs.
• Support efforts to eliminate payment disparities in the Medicare program for rural states and ensure adequate funding for the state's Medicaid program.
